CPS?

When you try to start your truck, does the truck crank??? If it does, does the RPM gauge move when its cranking?
I'm assuming it doesn't even crank by your vague description.

Check that out.., let me know how that goes for you..

Bubba, please fill out your signature so we know what year and other details of your stroke. When you turn the key, you starter does not work at all? If so I have had trouble with the relay mounted on the fender on both my 87 6.9 & 97 powerstroke. I have also had the starter just not work all of a sudden as well, and need replaced or rebuilt. As far as a bad CPS, I think the truck will still turn over, but will not start, as well as the tach does not move. Anyway, fill us in a little more on you starting problem and we can try to help you out.

Not to sound like a jerk, but are your battery terminals clean and making good connection, cause these starters require all the juice they can get. Also check you battery cable and make sure they make connection at the terminal ends themselves. Not sure how the Super Duties are, but the 97 and older diesels had problems with the cables breaking in various places and losing connections at the solder joints.

I had a problem like this a few years back on my IDI. It turns out that after years of clutch use the braket that holds the pedels got wallered out and the switch wasn't being contacted correctly so the truck would not start. I have not climbed in my SD to see if it is the same set up but I will try to before I go to the hog roast at Dayne's.
