My 5 speed went out of my truck today. I really need to find one before Monday so I can make it to work. I think all the bearings are out of mine.

If anyone has one or knows where I can get one before Monday PLEASE let me know!!

Yeah, My father in law picked it up today and should have the truck back tomorrow. Ended up taking it to Indy, a place called Trans Gear. I showed them the OCR site and told him I could get him some more buisness if he fixed me up. I got a complete rebuild, with all the upgrades for 800. It normally cost 1100 and that's not bad at all for a complete rebuild. It has a 1 yr unlimited mileage warranty. So if anyone needs a standard tranny or transfer case rebuilt give them a call and tell them your on OCR. Their number is 1-800-788-9120 ask for Roger Jr. :thumbsup2

Anyone know what would be the best fluid to use in the new tranny?

So what actually went wrong Dwight? Spin the nut off or just wore out bearings?

Altho I don't want to admit it but I think it was my fault :banging . I'm old school and have always owned standard tranny's in my trucks and to me gear oil was gear oil. My tranny was low on gear oil so I put a quart of plan valvoline 75-90w gear oil in it and it takes the high dollar GL-4 stuff. I guess the plan gear oil is not good for the nv 4500. Very costly mistake :dohhhh . The right GL-4 is 20 bucks a quart, what a reap off but you have to use it in these tranny's. Anyway mine was toast, bearings, front shaft and fork assemble. I assume the wrong gear oil fried the bearings and it just came apart :banging

Yeah the wrong lube will cause problems...I am glad you did bring that up cause I have never checked my transmission level. So before I do I will have to check out once what I have in mine.

Got a question for someone that knows our trucks. Can tranny fluid leak between the tranny and transfer case. I got my truck back Saturday after getting the new tranny installed. I drove to PA for work monday and when I got there I had what I think is tranny fluid everywhere it seems under my truck. It seems like it's coming from around where the transfer case and tranny meet up. It hasn't leaked enough where it's low but it's still making a mess.
