I've got an '06 Cummins and here lately I've noticed that I can feel the a/c cycle when I am using the accelerator pedal. I know the truck is drive-by-wire, but I can definitely feel the a/c cycle on and off through the accelerator pedal. I don't really notice anything when the truck is on cruise control. I also don't remember this during any past Summers. Any one else having this occur? I'm thinking that the a/c compressor clutch may be going out...

they have a variable displacement pump so it will feel cooler when accelerating or going higher rpm.. i dunno if this is the answer to the question because it sounds like you are feeling the compressor when it clicks partially because it puts a load on the engine then unloads and so on

Mine does the exact same thing. Also the passenger side vents blow warm air instead of cold.

Thanks everyone.

Sounds like it's an operating characteristic. For whatever reason I just don't remember it occurring last Summer.

Chugbug, it sounds like your blend door is broken. It's a common problem, probably should be a recall. Mine was replaced while under warranty at about 25k miles. It sucks to replace b/c you have to remove the dash to remove and replace it. What you can do as a temporary fix is reach up there and move the door by hand until you can get it fixed.

It's low on R314A....the low pressure switch it kicking the compressor in and out.

Have it checked out but that is most likely the issue. At idle the compressor is not moving fast enough to build up the pressure making it cycle......a good set of gauges from a competent shop will confirm, If so have it charged and some leak detection dye added to see if you have a small leak somewhere.

Thanks, I'll check into that. My truck ran out of warranty 5k ago.
